PARENTING BEYOND PINK VS BLUE // BARBIE VS TRUCKS

There are ''pink rules'' for girls and ''blue rules'' for boys. This encompasses everything from clothes and toys to the way the child is treated. But do this gender norms reflect some inherent biological differences between the sexes or are they culturally constructed? I think this is absolutely fascinating question?

Why can't a girl go to school like her brother?
Why can't a boy cook a meal like his mother?
Why can't a girl choose a truck for a toy?
And isn't a skipping rope fit for a boy?
Can't sons and daughters be treated same?
why such injustice and who is to blame?
Girls are traditionally seen as emotional nurtures where as boys as bread winners.

But we would like to have ''white rules'' with plenty of choices. Gender differences actually affect the growth of our own kids in the real world. Gender discrimination should be removed. Both boys and girls should be given equal chances to grow into good human beings. So far history has told only ''HIS STORY''. Hopefully, sometime soon it can start telling ''HER STORY''. Although time has changed  women are slowly gaining respect and equality in today's society.

But BEYOND THE POINT , I believe children should be raised on the basis of their interests rather than their gender. Parents should recognize and foster their child's unique strengths, even in a cultural obsessed environment.
