DANCE IN RAINS, TO HIDE TEARS!!!

Anyone who feels that the sunshine is pure happiness, has never danced in rains. A much-needed rain after the sweltering, sizzling heat of endless summers is greeted with much ardor. The first rains grace the earth with their arrival, and fills us with excitement and new vigor. I live in that part of the world where rains are so rare. I love rainy days. I am not referring to days, on end torrents that flood the yard, back up the swimming pool, and overflow the drainage ditches, but typical showers that occur either seasonally or at unexpected times.

Rain is a word that is often used pejoratively "oh! it's raining again," we mutter, sinking out of the door for the morning commute. But I love to dart back and forth between showers, instead of lamenting the rain. It's so relaxing as if weather is sending a message to slow down. And it turns into a chili type day, yet delightful if you have a day off after a super busy week that too on a super cool day.

Lamps throughout the dark corners of the house cheer me. I love to spend a day being artsy, in a visual way. I catch myself absentmindedly singing throughout the day, even with a sore throat. Rain amplifies the petrichor's sweet and distinct muskiness in the air and I am happy. It's the time when you can't say no to the tempting offers of your friends asking for a walk in the park, or a long drive along with a mouthwatering chaat.

Sometimes it falls in a big flat drops pummelling my plants like a boxer. Sometimes it blows in a gently as fine as sieved icing sugar. Sometimes the wind whips it in sideway streaks across the windows. Sometimes it stops falling from the sky altogether.

Nostalgia seeps in too, taking me on a trip down the memory lane of childhood. When I hid the umbrella inside my bag or loaned it to a friend to give an excuse to come home drenched.
Loved going to school even though it was clear it would be a declared holiday due to heavy rains, just to chat with friends as classes were canceled. Walking in rain from bus-stand to home, lost in conversations with friends. Tried hiding from the elders and sneaking out to dance in the rains. Jumping in the puddles feeling like nothing is better than making a big o l' splash. Pulling a chair up to a window and watch the birds that arrive. Cue up some nature videos when you don't feel like to go out and get your outdoor fix from a comfy couch. Sitting in a balcony, sipping a hot cup of coffee, enjoying hot fritters, reading your favorite book, listening to your favorite piece of music, enjoying the refreshing breeze after a downpour, the ear-splitting roar of thunder followed by streaks of lightning showering on me, the view of silver linings to all the dark and grey clouds engulfing the sky. These moments are real treasures of life.

Although rain can stick us indoors but we have more time in our hands to make it productive. Even a drizzly day can boost your spirits, things which were in pipeline for so long can be finished and polished up.

Today I saw my kids welcoming and enjoying the first rain. The kids screaming out of sheer joy, Mom- it's raining. Let's go out. They started dancing and singing in the rain excitedly,...Rain, rain....come again! Jumping in the puddles, racing the paper boats, and what all they did.

I love how everything turns fresh and bright after a good spell. After a rainfall enjoying the ride, spotting the freshly gleaming green leaves. the shining roads, the magnificent looking rainbow spread across the sky. RAINBOW, gives us a message that after every darkness, a new day blooms. This storm will pass soon. Our lives would once again be filled with hues of happiness and prosperity.

Rains for me signify new life, new hope, new beginnings, they also bring memories from the past some sweet, some bitter but mostly fun. Moreover. whenever I wanted a good cry, I wished it could rain to wash away my tears and brings a new zeal in me. Life is all about learning to dance in rains. not waiting for the storms to pass. All birds find shelter during a rain. But eagle avoids rain by flying above the clouds. Problems are common, but attitude makes the difference. BEYOND THE POINT, It's about being real, being humble, being able to share ourselves and touch the lives of others. It's sheer happiness.
